Jakarta. GoTo is gearing up for another major leadership transition, and all eyes are now on Hans Patuwo, the long-serving executive widely seen as the strongest candidate to replace Patrick Walujo as chief executive. Patrick, who has led the company since June 2023, is stepping down after overseeing GoTo’s financial restructuring and sharpening its long-term direction.

The proposed leadership change will be discussed at an extraordinary shareholders' meeting on December 17, 2025, with the company assuring investors that the transition plan has been mapped out thoroughly to maintain strategic continuity.

GoTo President Commissioner Agus Martowardojo praised Patrick’s role in stabilizing the business. “Patrick strengthened our financial fundamentals, sharpened operational focus, and restored clarity in GoTo’s long-term direction,” Agus said.

Patrick has also voiced support for Hans’ nomination, describing him as someone who understands the GoTo ecosystem “end to end” and has the integrity and track record to drive the company’s next phase.

Who Is Hans Patuwo?
Hans Patuwo is far from a new face within the GoTo universe. He has spent more than eight years shaping the company’s on-demand, fintech, and operational strategies, making him one of the most influential figures behind GoTo’s day-to-day engine.

Born in 1976, the Indonesian executive holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame (1997). Before joining the tech world, Hans built a global career across the United States, China, and Singapore, including a six-year stint as a partner at McKinsey in Shanghai, Singapore, and Jakarta.

Key Roles in the GoTo Ecosystem

  • COO of Gojek (2018–2021)

Led transport operations, driver-partner management, and merchant acquisition. Under his watch, Gojek expanded to 100+ cities, and driver partners grew to over 2 million across Southeast Asia.

  • Leadership in GoTo Financial

Served as president of GoTo Financial, helping scale the fintech arm into one of Indonesia’s major digital financial platforms.

  • President of On-Demand Services & COO of GoTo

Currently oversees the entire on-demand portfolio, applying disciplined, data-driven execution to support growth while improving efficiency.

His roles have spanned mobility, payments, city-level activation, merchant ecosystems, and operational integration, giving him rare visibility into GoTo’s core business structure.

Experience Beyond GoTo
Hans previously served as:

  • COO of Paper at Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper (2015–2017)
  • Director of Gofin Karya Anak Bangsa
  • Director of Midtrans

He was appointed a GoTo director in 2021 and later took on additional responsibilities in payments and fintech in 2022–2023.

Why Hans Matters Now
Hans’ deep operational experience and his role in scaling Gojek’s and GoTo’s most critical businesses place him at the center of GoTo’s next transformation cycle. Investors view him as someone who not only understands the company’s complexities but has already proven his ability to execute with discipline.

As GoTo focuses on sustainable growth and long-term profitability, Hans Patuwo stands out as the executive best positioned to lead the company into its next phase.
