In global trade, spot gold touched $4,075.95 per ounce as of Nov. 19 at 10:17 NY time, up 10.14 points or 0.25 percent, based on goldprice.org data.

Investors are now pricing only a 30 percent chance of a December rate cut, according to CME FedWatch. US President Donald Trump again criticized Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell for moving “too slowly” in easing policy.

Gold, which offers no yield, typically gains appeal when interest rates fall or uncertainty rises. Traders are waiting for the delayed September US jobs report, pushed to Thursday due to the government shutdown. The Labor Statistics Bureau confirmed the October report will not be released, as the shutdown halted household survey collection.

Data earlier this week showed US jobless benefit recipients hit a two-month high in mid-October.
