Cinema XXI’s Ticket Sales Drive 12% Revenue Increase in Third Quarter
Jakarta. Movie theatre operator Nusantara Sejahtera Raya (Cinema XXI) posted a revenue of Rp 4.3 trillion ($275.12 million) for the third quarter of 2024, marking a 12.1 percent increase compared to the same period last year, driven by increased ticket sales.
The company’s net profit after tax reached Rp 529.8 billion, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 36.6 percent. Meanwhile, earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) rose by 17.9 percent year-on-year to Rp 1.3 trillion.
Suryo Suherman, President Director of Cinema XXI, attributed this positive growth to rising market demands. The company is also expanding its presence across various regions in Indonesia.
"The revenue for Cinema XXI up to Q3 2024 has been bolstered by increased ticket sales, in line with our commitment to expanding the number of cinema screens as public interest in watching films continues to grow in different areas of Indonesia," Suryo said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
As of Sept. 30, Cinema XXI reported a total audience of 66.1 million, an increase of 11.8 percent from the same period last year. This rise in attendance contributed Rp 2.67 trillion from ticket sales, accounting for 63 percent of total revenue. Additionally, revenue from food and beverage sales amounted to Rp 1.44 trillion, contributing 34 percent to overall income.
Cinema XXI plans to distribute an interim dividend to all shareholders. The interim dividend, totaling Rp 416.7 billion or IDR 5 per share, is scheduled for distribution on Nov. 15.
