Jakarta. Tourist haven Bali reported to have registered Rp 7.02 trillion or almost $393 million in tax receipts in the first five months of 2026.

This marks an 11.27% growth compared to the same period, which totaled Rp 6.3 trillion.

“This is equivalent to almost 29% of the Rp 24.3 trillion ($1.4 million) target,” Bali’s treasury directorate-general head Supendi was quoted as saying by the state news agency Antara.

Corporate income tax rose 4.71% year-on-year to Rp 1.91 trillion from January to May. Personal income tax stood at Rp 313.63 billion, up by 19.3%. The province also saw a 23.60% increase in value-added tax (VAT) and luxury goods sales tax, totaling Rp 1.76 trillion. Property and building tax reached Rp 760 million over the same period, marking a 262.42% increase.

From a business standpoint, trade became the largest contributor to tax revenue in Bali, reaching Rp 1.24 trillion (17.7% increase). Accommodation and food and beverage services reached Rp 1.14 trillion, a 16.34 percent growth. Financial and insurance activities reached Rp 969.1 billion, up by 13.79%.

Bali regional tax office chief Darmawan remains upbeat that tax revenues would continue to grow despite the global geopolitical situation. He added: “Despite the encouraging trend, we can’t be complacent. Bali’s economy relies heavily on the tourism sector, which carries risks.”
