Jakarta. Starlink is temporarily suspending new customer registrations in Indonesia due to capacity constraints across the country, more than a year after it launched operations in the market.

“Starlink service is currently unavailable for new customers in your area due to sold out capacity across Indonesia,” Elon Musk's satellite-based internet service company said in a statement on its website.

The company also announced it is pausing new kit activations for customers who purchased Starlink equipment through retail or third-party sellers. However, customers can still place a deposit to join the waitlist and will be notified once services become available again.

“Please note that we cannot provide an estimated timeframe for availability, but our teams are collaborating with local authorities to bring Starlink to Indonesia as soon as possible,” the statement said.

The temporary suspension comes more than a year after Starlink officially launched in Indonesia on May 19, 2024, with Elon Musk attending the inauguration in Bali. The service offers internet access across the country, with monthly plans starting at Rp 450,000 ($27.65).

Starlink’s presence in Indonesia aims to expand internet access to the archipelago's remote and underserved areas. The service has been particularly attractive to schools, health clinics, and small businesses in regions with limited broadband infrastructure.
