Petrosea and Poltekba Collaborate to Create Industry-Ready Workforce
Jakarta. Mining services company PT Petrosea Tbk and the Balikpapan State Polytechnic Poltekba recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at creating an industry-ready workforce.
This five-year partnership is part of Petrosea’s commitment to human capital development by forming strategic collaborations with vocational education institutions. The MoU signing took place during a graduation ceremony of 8 students who are set to immediately work at Petrosea. Representing both parties during the signing ceremony were Poltekba’s Director, Dr. Emil Azmanajaya, S.T., M.T., and Petrosea’s Senior Talent Acquisition & Development Manager, Apriastuti Maulina.
This collaboration framework focuses on a link and match program to ensure that what is taught on campus aligns with the actual needs of the workforce. As stated in the MoU, Petrosea will share its practical experience, send experts to teach at Poltekba, provide on-the-job training opportunities for students, and open the door to collaboration in the application of industry-standard manufacturing technology and safety practices.
Poltekba has the potential to play a role in producing finished goods that meet industry quality standards, thereby strengthening the vocational education ecosystem relevant to job market needs.
The graduating 8 students, who were part of the 2022 batch, had taken the vocational program for heavy equipment. They had joined the Petrosea-Poltekba collaborative class in which they not only learnt the theory on campus, but also had hands-on practice in various Petrosea projects. Petrosea’s deputy general manager for people operation excellence, Adi Setyono, also handed over the company’s uniforms to the students during the ceremony.
In the future, Petrosea and Poltekba plan on further expanding the partnership to develop Indonesia’s workforce in manufacturing technology and heavy equipment. This partnership is expected to become a model for sustainable partnerships between businesses and vocational institutions in generating industry-ready and globally competitive talent.
