Indonesia's Immigration Ministry Marks First Anniversary
Jakarta. Indonesia’s Immigration and Corrections Ministry recently celebrated its first anniversary by hosting a running event and festival on the weekend.
The ministry took shape when President Prabowo Subianto assumed power last October. On Sunday, the ministry held the IMIPAS RUN, which attracted 2,500 participants. The 5K and 10K categories were open to the public. The event also ran out of quota in just three days after the registration opened. The ministry also held the Immigration Festival (IMIFEST), which provided passport services for 1,000 people.
"The first year of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections is a momentum for us to strengthen our commitment to closer, faster, and more transparent services,” Immigration Minister Agus Andrianto said.
“Through activities like IMIFEST and IMIPAS RUN, we want to demonstrate that public services can be humane, participatory, and enjoyable for the public,” he said.
The 5K participants traveled from Hutan Kota GBK and ran towards the Simpang Semanggi area. They then went on to the Bundaran Senayan and finally go back to the starting line. The 10K runners’ route included Hutan Kota GBK, Simpang Semanggi, Jenderal Sudirman Street, and Pattimura Street. They then ran to Sisingamangaraja Street, Bundaran Senayan, before finally returning to Hutan Kota GBK.
Quizzes and door prizes were also available at the 2025 IMIFEST. The legendary pop group RAN also wrapped up the event.
"The Ministry of Immigration and Corrections was born out of a spirit of change, a passion for providing public-oriented immigration and correctional services," Agus said.
“In its first year, we aim to continue to grow into an adaptive, innovative institution that provides the best for the nation.”
