Indonesia Deports Foreign Crime Suspect to the Philippines
Jakarta. The Directorate General of Immigration deported a foreign national who violated immigration laws and is a subject of special concern to the Philippine government, with the initials AG, on Thursday.
The 34-year-old woman is suspected of committing several criminal acts, including human trafficking and money laundering.
AG was successfully apprehended by Interpol Indonesia on Tuesday at 11.58 PM in Curug, Tangerang, Banten. The immigration office then deported AG on Thursday at 6 p.m. in collaboration with the National Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Immigration of the Philippines. AG will continue her legal process in her country.
"We received a letter from the Philippine Bureau of Immigration on August 19, 2024, regarding special attention to four Filipino citizens suspected of being involved in immigration crimes in the form of identity forgery on travel documents and human trafficking. Based on this letter, the Directorate General of Immigration implemented a travel ban on AG and her associates, namely SG, WG, and KO," said Director of Immigration Supervision and Enforcement, Saffar Muhammad Godam.
AG had also undergone an examination by the Indonesian police regarding the alleged criminal acts she committed before being deported.
Previously, SG (female, 40 years old) and KO (female, 24 years old), who were also on the Philippine Government's wanted list, were arrested by Immigration officers at Batam Center, Riau Islands, on Aug. 22. They were successfully found through inspections and tracing on the Foreigner Reporting Application. Officers found an individual with the initials ZJ (Singaporean citizen) who had booked four rooms at a hotel in Batam Center for the past three days. From CCTV checks, it was found that ZJ was the one who helped SG and KO with the hotel reservation.
SG and KO were brought to the immigration office on Wednesday. Both foreigners got deported the following day, escorted by the Philippine authorities.
"We, along with the Indonesian Police, continue to pursue WG. The Indonesian and Philippine governments continue to coordinate to immediately apprehend this foreign national. The Directorate General of Immigration is committed to eradicating transnational crimes, which contributes to securing the ASEAN region from transnational crime," Godam said.
