Govt Provides Financing, License Facilities for Kupang's Microbusinesses
Jakarta. The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Ministry reported that they had facilitated over 1,000 micro-entrepreneurs in East Nusa Tenggara's Kupang in obtaining certification and business legality.
The ministry has also helped these businesses gain access to financing.
MSME Minister Maman Abdurrahman said Wednesday that the government would remain committed to building a safe, inclusive, and competitive business ecosystem for MSMEs across the archipelago.
"Our presence through this festival is to address the challenges and high hopes of micro and small entrepreneurs in managing permits, certification, business legality, financing, and other services they need," Maman said at a MSME festival in Kupang.
At President Prabowo Subianto's behest, the ministry is integrating various licensing and certification services within a single, integrated ecosystem. The integration, which Maman attributed to teamwork with other stakeholders, has shown significant results.
"The volume of permits and certifications issued until October 2025 has increased by almost 300 percent compared to previous years. This is the result of cross-agency collaboration and extraordinary support from local governments, including the East Nusa Tenggara Province," Maman said.
At the event, the ministry facilitated 29 types of services for the MSMEs, ranging from halal certification, business identification number license, among others. Enterpreneurs could also access the microloan program and sign up for the employment security BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. These facilities are also expected to help move MSMEs from the informal to the formal sector, thereby boosting their competitiveness at home and abroad.
"Most of our MSMEs are still in the informal sector, and the challenge is to move them to the formal sector. Our microloan program has created jobs for over 11 million people," Maman said, while reminding the entrepreneurs how legality was crucial to thrive amidst the ever-changing dynamics.
East Nusa Tenggara Governor Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena revealed that he planned on replicating this collaboration model to other districts and cities across the province.
"This way, all services for MSMEs can be integrated, ensuring a fast, easy, and regulatory-compliant process," Emanuel said.
