Sleman. The distribution of government-aided meals in Sleman is boosting the regional economy as  it involves local businesses, farmers, and village-owned enterprises (BUMDes).

The collaboration ensures that local businesses are taking part in supplying the raw ingredients to support the welfare of the local community. National Nutrition Agency or BGN's spokesperson Khairul Hidayati said that the Sleman Tridadi 3 SPPG public kitchen showed how the program could boost the village economy.

"This SPPG is not just a kitchen producing nutritious food. It is a center of village economic activity involving micro, small and medium enterprises [MSMEs], farmers, and BUMDes. The impact is directly felt by the community through increased income and a more dynamic economic chain," Hida said.

The agency urges the replication of the Sleman Tridadi 3 SPPG model is replicated into other areas.

"This community-based approach has proven effective in mobilizing residents, creating jobs, and making the food supply chain more independent. This is a good practice that we want to promote in many regions," Hida said.

This partnership strengthens the local food system through transparent procurement mechanisms and provides equitable access for business groups. This ensures that the benefits of the nutrition program go beyond providing nutritious food, but also encourage productivity and village economic growth.

Molly Prabawaty, an expert staff at the Communications Ministry, said the direct involvement of local communities makes the nutrition program more effective and sustainable.

"When communities are involved in the production and supply process, the nutrition program is no longer seen as mere aid, but as a social movement that strengthens the village economy and the spirit of mutual cooperation. This is a development narrative that needs to be expanded," Molly said.
