Aceh Tamiang. Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) has reaffirmed its commitment to post-disaster recovery in Aceh by actively supporting the construction of temporary housing for communities affected by floods and landslides in Aceh.

The initiative forms part of a broader state-led effort coordinated by Danantara Indonesia, bringing together state-owned enterprises to provide safe and dignified shelter for displaced residents. The housing project in Aceh Tamiang was inspected on Thursday by President Prabowo Subianto, who stressed the importance of accelerating recovery so affected communities can quickly resume normal life.

As a member of the state-owned banks association Himbara, BSI plays a strategic role in supporting financing and logistics for the construction of the temporary housing units. In the initial phase of development, BSI contributed around 15% of the total target for the first-stage housing construction.

Rosan Roeslani, Chief Executive Officer of Danantara Indonesia, said the progress achieved to date reflected strong cross-sector collaboration, particularly the active role of state-owned enterprises in on-the-ground execution.

“The housing targets in Aceh Tamiang were clearly set from the outset, and progress as of January 1, 2026 demonstrates the strong commitment of all parties to deliver on those targets. State-owned enterprises moved quickly, working under challenging conditions to ensure communities receive decent housing as soon as possible,” Rosan said.

Danantara Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria highlighted the discipline and intensity of work required to meet tight deadlines. Construction, material procurement, and quality control were carried out simultaneously to ensure completion before the start of the year, he said.

According to Dony, close coordination between Danantara, implementing state-owned enterprises, local governments, and ministries has been critical in keeping the project on track. “This is a concrete example of how state-owned enterprises serve as an extension of the state, prioritizing social and humanitarian interests alongside business objectives,” he added.

BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo, who accompanied the presidential visit, said the bank’s involvement goes beyond providing financial services, focusing instead on helping communities rebuild a stable foundation for recovery.

“These temporary homes are a crucial solution for families who have lost their houses. In line with Danantara’s guidance, we ensure the housing meets ‘decent living’ standards — not just providing shelter, but safety, comfort, and dignity so residents can return to productive lives,” Anggoro said.

The housing units are designed using a modular concept to ensure speed and quality, and are equipped with supporting facilities such as free electricity, clean water access, proper drainage, and free Wi-Fi to support residents’ access to information and participation in the digital economy.

“These facilities are essential so recovery is not only physical, but also social and economic,” Anggoro added.

BSI’s participation in the housing program complements a broader set of humanitarian efforts launched from the first days of the disaster. The bank has distributed more than 140 tons of logistical aid, established health posts and public kitchens, and provided trauma-healing services for children.

From an operational standpoint, BSI confirmed that all banking services in Aceh had returned to normal operations as of December 30, 2025. The bank has also rolled out financing restructuring programs to ease the burden on customers affected by the disaster.

Nationally, Danantara Indonesia and other state-owned enterprises are targeting the completion of 600 housing units by January 8, 2026, with a medium-term goal of delivering 15,000 units within the next three months. BSI said it remains committed to supporting the process until communities in Aceh have fully recovered.
