BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Gives Rp 391m Death Compensation to BTPN Syariah Employees
Jakarta. Workers security agency BPJS Ketenagakerjaan recently handed over compensation worth Rp 391 million ($24,329) to two heirs of BTPN Syariah employees.
According to a press release, the employees had died from an occupational accident.
“We are fully committed to responding swiftly and accurately to all claims submitted by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants, even though they have only been part of the program for a month,” BPJS Ketenagakerjaan’s finance director Asep Rahmat Suwandha said during the handover ceremony, as reported by a recent press statement.
A BPJS Ketenagakerjaan membership also provides socio-economic protection for workers, regardless of their profession. Such protection is also pivotal to protect workers from extreme poverty, according to Asep. The agency also thanked BTPN Syariah for registering all its employees in the full social security program, which also includes a job loss guarantee.
During the visit to BTPN Syariah, Asep also launched a book titled “This is How BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Provides Benefits to Workers”, which seeks to inform the public about the workers’ security.
“By knowing how things work in-depth, we hope we can nudge workers into signing up as BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants. Workers have the same rights to be protected, they can work hard and optimally, and themselves and their families are free from worry from all work risks that may occur," Asep said.
