Jakarta. Pelita Harapan University (UPH) recently held an awarding ceremony to award 501 students who all had made remarkable achievements throughout the 2024-2025 academic year.

The students had won 193 awards from various competitions of different levels, be it regional, national, or even international. The 2025 UPH Awards took place last Friday at the Grand Chapel, UPH Lippo Village Campus in Tangerang.

From August 2024 to June 2025, UPH received 11 regional awards, 156 national awards, and 26 international awards.

"I express my gratitude and congratulations for your achievements. Each of these accomplishments is a manifestation of God's glory, and not only brings pride to UPH but also brings honor to the country. May each of these achievements encourage us all to continue giving our best for God's name," UPH Rector Jonathan L. Parapak said.

Bryan Nakatomi Tantowi, a pharmacy student from the class of 2024, said that the award was a reminder of a hard-fought process. Bryan has won first place at the 11th Uhamka Pharmacovent 2025 and placed second at the 2024 Universitas Indonesia Pharmacy Festival. He was also third at the Patient Counseling Competition - National Avicena Competition 2025. Bryan also successfully secured funding for the 2025 Student Creativity Program (PKM) from the Ministry of Education.

"All students can achieve as long as they have two things: strong determination and a willingness to try. I hope this award is not the end, but rather the beginning of our journey to achieve even more," said Bryan.

Beatrice Frederica Sungkono, who studies international relations (class of 2024), also has a long list of achievements.

She was named Most Outstanding Delegate at the National Beginner Diplomacy MUN (National Beginner Diplomacy Conference). She won Best Delegate at the 2025 Youth Model ASEAN Conference (YMAC). Beatrice also won 1st place (Best Award - Best Delegate) at the Joint Statement Forum of the Indonesian International Relations Student Communication Forum Region 2.

“Competitions are not just a platform to test one's abilities, but also a space for growth. Competitions allow me to learn from those more experienced, broaden my horizons, and push me to become a better practitioner in the field of international relations,” she said.

Not only in academics, UPH students have also achieved success in sports. Volney Blance Lambert, a student from the Faculty of Medicine class of 2022, won a gold medal in the 50-meter backstroke at the Indonesia Open Aquatic Championship, as well as a silver medal in the 4x50-meter mixed bifins relay at the 2025 Garut Open National Championship. Volney was the Best Swimmer in the Senior Men's Age Group after winning six medals in the 2024 West Java Swimming Series.

"The UPH campus is very supportive, both in terms of permits to compete and training facilities. The swimming pool on campus feels like home for me to train. I'm interested in competing because I want to continually test myself and see what I can do. By participating in competitions, I can continue to develop myself," Volney said.

Rector's Award 2025: FAST Wins Best Faculty Award

UPH also awarded the 2025 Rector's Award to the best faculty as a token of appreciation for their performance and contributions throughout the year. This year, the Faculty of Science and Technology (FAST) won this prestigious award.

FAST was recognized for its excellence based on various achievement indicators, including the number of student achievements, the highest average score in the Student Engagement Program (SEP Points) for first-year students, and the active participation of lecturers and staff as mentors, supervisors, student mentors, and reviewers of competition projects.

FAST also demonstrates a strong academic commitment through publications in national and international scientific journals indexed in the Science and Technology Index (Sinta) and Scopus.
