Bekasi, W. Java. Search and rescue teams have ended the search operation following a garbage landslide at a major waste processing site near Jakarta after recovering all victims, authorities said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Processing Site in Bekasi, West Java, one of Indonesia’s largest landfill facilities serving the capital.

Search and rescue officials confirmed that the final missing victim, Riki Supriadi, 40, was found late Monday night at around 11:30 p.m. local time. His body was later transported to Kramat Jati Police Hospital in East Jakarta for further handling.

“With all victims found and no additional missing persons reported, the search and rescue operation has officially been closed,” said Desiana Kartika Bahari, head of the Jakarta Search and Rescue Office.

During the operation, joint rescue teams recovered seven victims who died in the disaster. Six other people survived the collapse of the massive pile of garbage.

The tragedy brings the total number of victims to 13, including those who survived and those killed.

Authorities had deployed joint search teams following the landslide, which buried several people who were working or present near the waste mound when it collapsed.

The Bantargebang facility, located on the outskirts of Jakarta, receives thousands of tons of waste from the Indonesian capital each day and has long faced concerns over safety and environmental risks due to the towering piles of garbage.
