No Indonesian Victim in Taiwan Earthquake: Gov’t
Jakarta. The recent 7.4-magnitude Taiwan earthquake did not claim any Indonesian victims, according to the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s spokesperson Lalu Muhamad Iqbal.
In early Wednesday local time, a powerful earthquake rocked Taiwan, followed by several strong aftershocks. Taiwan’s fire department reported that the disaster killed four people and injured at least 57 people.
The quake also prompted Japan to issue a tsunami warning for the islands of the southern Okinawa prefecture, although the advisory has been lifted.
“The Foreign Affairs Ministry has talked to the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo and the Indonesian Economic and Trade Office in Taipei. So far, there are no Indonesian victims in the Taiwan quake, as well as in Okinawa prefecture, Japan,” Lalu told the press via text on Wednesday.
