Jakarta. Indonesian men’s doubles pair Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri claimed the 2025 China Open title on Sunday after defeating second-seeded Malaysians Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in straight sets.

Playing at the Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium in Changzhou, Fajar and Fikri delivered a commanding performance, winning 21–15, 21–14 in just 35 minutes. The victory marked a significant achievement for the newly paired duo.

“This title is especially dedicated to Indonesian badminton legend Iie Sumirat from our hometown of Bandung, who sadly passed away this week,” said Fajar.

Iie Sumirat, a star of Indonesian badminton in the 1970s and later coach to Olympic gold medalist Taufik Hidayat, died on July 22 at the age of 74.
