Jakarta. Sixteen detainees escaped from the Tanah Abang Police Precinct on early Monday. The Central Jakarta Police have successfully apprehended two of them, while the remaining 14 escapees are still being actively pursued.

"The Criminal Investigation Unit, Narcotics Unit, and Tanah Abang Police Chief have formed a special team for this search," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Susatyo Purnomo Condro on Monday.

He revealed that the detainees escaped at around 02:40 AM. At that time, residents behind the Tanah Abang Police Station saw a group of unknown people running.

After receiving this information, the Tanah Abang Police immediately checked the detention room and found damaged ventilation in one cell.

Then the detention guards checked the back of the cell and found a praying mat tied and hanging down from the cut iron bars.

Susatyo promptly deployed the team to inspect the crime scene and recapture all the detainees who escaped.

"For anyone who knows their whereabouts, please report it to us at the Central Jakarta Police," emphasized Susatyo.
