Jakarta. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo is scheduled to inaugurate the new state palace, Garuda Palace, and meet with several company CEOs in Indonesia's future capital, Nusantara (IKN), on Friday.

"The inauguration will include a hospital, followed by meetings with CEOs. There will be no groundbreaking ceremony, but the State Palace will be inaugurated," Jokowi said in Jakarta on Thursday.

I Nyoman Nuarta, the visionary behind the Garuda Palace, explained that the design features a Garuda, the national emblem, which appears to embrace the palace, symbolizing protection for the Indonesian people. The Garuda's head is gently bowed to convey humility rather than arrogance. Standing at 44 meters from the road and 88 meters above sea level, the overall height of Garuda Palace reaches 70 meters.

Nuarta also focused on the palace's surroundings, planning to plant various flora on the nearby cliffs to create a lush and cool environment.

A unique feature of the palace is its floating waiting area, located between 30-meter-high cliffs and a ceiling at the same height. This design allows for natural airflow, keeping the space cool without the need for air conditioning.

Earlier, the Investment Minister and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Rosan Roeslani, announced that Jokowi would conduct another trial run at Nusantara Airport.

"The airport in IKN is expected to be ready for trial. The President will be testing it again. He has previously landed there but will now use a larger aircraft," Rosan said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday.

While Jokowi previously landed using the Presidential RJ85 aircraft, the Nusantara Airport runway has been reinforced and expanded. He is expected to fly in the Presidential Boeing Business Jet 737-800 on Friday.

The construction of Nusantara Airport is slated for completion by December 31, 2024, featuring a 3,000-meter-long runway and a terminal building spanning 7,350 square meters. The airport will be equipped to accommodate the largest aircraft, including the B-777 300 ER and the A380.
