Jakarta. The Jakarta Provincial Government holds the Jakarta Fire Safety Challenge (JFSC) 2025, officially opened by Governor Pramono Anung.

The event brings together 1,896 participants, consisting of community fire volunteers (Redkar) and building emergency response teams. Among them are 440 fire volunteers from 44 districts and 1,456 personnel from 112 buildings across the capital.

“Today I am grateful and delighted to be here to open the Jakarta Fire Safety Challenge, an event for building fire safety management and fire volunteers,” Governor Pramono said on Monday.

He said the program is vital for enhancing the skills and expertise of fire volunteers and building emergency teams. The challenge not only serves as a competition but also trains participants in equipment handling and teamwork.

“Jakarta’s firefighters are among the best in Indonesia and even recognized globally. In various international competitions, Jakarta has consistently emerged as the overall champion,” he added.

In 2025 alone, Jakarta has recorded 1,195 fire incidents, with 22 percent (267 cases) handled directly by local communities. Pramono views this as a positive outcome of citizen involvement in line with gubernatorial regulations.

He also reaffirmed Jakarta’s commitment to strengthening the fire department while opening opportunities for collaboration with other regions seeking to learn or receive support from the capital. This initiative is expected to improve national fire management and enhance public safety at large.
