Lampung. In West Lampung Regency, hundreds of residents set ablaze the Forest Ranger Office of Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (TNBBS) in Lampung Province. This act of arson was triggered by the community's frustration over the delayed handling of conflicts between tigers and humans, resulting in two fatalities and one injured resident.

The anarchic incident unfolded on Monday afternoon, leading to the destruction of three motorcycles during the turmoil.

After the office was engulfed in flames, the unruly protest was eventually quelled by a joint force of the military and National Police personnel.

Earlier, two individuals from Suoh District, Lampung Barat, had fallen victim to tiger attacks within a month, intensifying community dissatisfaction.

The peak of discontent occurred when a resident of Suka Marga Village, Suoh District, was once again attacked by a Sumatran tiger on Monday. Fortunately, the victim, named Samanan, survived the tiger assault during his gardening activity with two companions.

Despite suffering severe head injuries from the tiger's claws, Samanan managed to escape with the assistance of his companions. Currently, he is receiving intensive medical care at the Alimudin Umar Regional General Hospital in Lampung Barat.

West Lampung Police Chief, Ryky Widya Muharam, urged residents of Suoh District not to resort to anarchic actions regarding the handling of wildlife in the area.

While expressing sympathy for the victims, Ryky Widya lamented the act of burning down the forest ranger office, stating that such actions were unnecessary.

"We, the Lampung Barat Police and the local military command, have made efforts. There is also a special task force and a team for hunting the wild animals, although they have not been successful yet," said Ryky Widya on Monday night.

Ryky Widya called on the community to refrain from further anarchic actions. Looking ahead, he hoped for unity among all parties to resolve the ongoing conflict between humans and wild animals.

"I urge all residents of Suoh not to engage in anarchic behavior and blame each other. Everyone should join forces to end this conflict with wildlife as soon as possible," emphasized Ryky Widya.

Following the incident, dozens of police officers and TNI personnel are on standby at the location to ensure security.
