Bandung. Former court watchdog Judicial Commission chairman Jaja Ahmad Jayus was hospitalized after being stabbed by an unidentified attacker at his home in Bandung, West Java, on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the stabbing was pre-planned as the lone attacker waited for the victim to arrive and assaulted him with a traditional, sickle-shaped knife called clurit.

"As soon as he parked his car, the attacker who apparently waited at the scene stabbed Jaja with a clurit," Bandung Metropolitan Police Chief Kusworo Wibowo told reporters.

The knife was left at the scene and seized by police for forensic investigation, the officer added. The motive for the attack remains unknown.

Jaja sustained stab wounds in the head and neck as a result of the attack.

Media reports said that Jaja’s daughter Rahmi Dwi Utami was also injured in the attack but there is no confirmation from the police.

West Java Police spokesman Chief Comr. Ibrahim Tompo said the attack occurred at around 03:00 p.m.

The attacker arrived at the scene on a white motorcycle, he said.

The Judicial Commission condemns the attacks and demands the police to investigate the case thoroughly, commission spokesman Miko Ginting said separately.

"We are monitoring the case to ensure that the police work to uncover the case. The Judicial Commission wishes Mr. Jaja and his daughter a speedy recovery,” Miko said.

Jaja, who turns 58 next month, was a two-term chairman of the Judicial Commission from 2010-2020.
