East Kalimantan Transfers Land for New Capital Housing Projects
Penajam Paser Utara. The Penajam Paser Utara Regency Government in East Kalimantan Province has officially transferred land assets in Sepaku District to the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN). Part of this land is designated for constructing residential housing or apartments for residents affected by the development of the new capital.
"The regency government has handed over land assets to OIKN to facilitate land utilization for the expedited development of Indonesia's new capital city," said Nicko Herlambang, an Official for Governance and People's Welfare at the Regency Secretariat, in Penajam on Sunday.
The transfer of land assets marks the North Penajam Paser Regency government's support for the rapid development of Indonesia's new capital. The land assets transferred are situated in the central core area of Nusantara's government center.
The transferred land includes the Trunen livestock village in Bumi Harapan Village, Sepaku District, covering an area of approximately 46 hectares.
"The land area handed over also includes the official residence of the regent and a cattle pen," he added.
The Public Works and Public Housing Ministry (PUPR) plans to build apartment complexes to relocate residents of Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency, who are affected by the development of Indonesia's new capital.
According to Nicko, the land asset transfer also aims to assist residents of Sepaku District impacted by Nusantara's development. Therefore, the NPHD stipulates that part of the land is designated for constructing residential housing or apartments for those affected by the new capital's development.
Once the North Penajam Paser Regency's 46-hectare land asset is handed over, its utilization will be entirely under the authority of OIKN.
"Part of the land will also be used to construct a reservoir for flood control," he noted.
The central government will also build a reservoir on a portion of the 46-hectare land owned by the North Penajam Paser Regency.
Indonesia is currently racing against time to build Nusantara as President Joko Widodo plans to start working from the nation's new capital this July. He also aims to celebrate Indonesia’s Independence Day on August 17 in the yet-to-be-built capital.
