Jakarta. Tiko Aryawardhana, the husband of renowned singer Bunga Citra Lestari, is under investigation by the Jakarta Police for his alleged involvement in an embezzlement case totaling Rp 6.9 billion ($423,500), following a complaint from his former wife.

Leo Siregar, the attorney representing the accuser, said on Tuesday that the case originated from alleged fraudulent activities related to the management of the food and beverage company, Arjuna Advaya Sanjaya, founded by Tiko and his then-wife, Arina Winarto.

According to the lawyer, Arina fully funded the company and served as the chief commissioner, while Tiko was appointed director.

During the company's operations between 2015 and 2021, Tiko was granted full authority to run the company and manage its finances.

“We allege that the full authority with little supervision provided a loophole for the accused to commit wrongdoings that caused financial losses to the company,” Leo said.

“Our client had thought that the business was running well until Tiko abruptly declared the company bankrupt in 2019 due to an inability to pay rents."

In 2021, Arina discovered two financial reports that conflicted with each other, raising suspicions of data manipulation, the lawyer said.

“Our client hired independent auditors to conduct an investigation and found fraudulent spending amounting to Rp 6.9 billion," Leo said.

South Jakarta Police reported that the complaint was filed on July 23, 2022, with Arina accusing Tiko of “embezzlement by misusing authority” a year after their divorce.

Tiko, 40, married Bunga, popularly known by her initials BCL, in December 2023.

Bintoro, the lead investigator in the case, revealed that five witnesses, including Tiko, have been interrogated by the police.

“His status in the case is currently that of a witness,” Bintoro said.

However, as the criminal investigation began in February, Tiko could potentially become the main suspect in the case, which carries a maximum prison sentence of five years.
