Brazilian Tourist Causes Chaos in Bali After Being Told Not to Smoke
Badung. A Brazilian national, identified by the initials MP, became enraged after being instructed not to smoke in an air-conditioned room at a café in Uluwatu, Badung, Bali, on Wednesday.
MP not only reacted aggressively but also vandalized the cafe's property, leaving it in disarray. Videos of the Brazilian tourist’s actions quickly went viral on social media.
Upon receiving a report from the café owner, officers from the South Kuta Police Station immediately launched an investigation by reviewing CCTV footage, interviewing witnesses, and coordinating with immigration authorities. MP was successfully apprehended on the evening of Thursday.
Chief of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Kuta Police, Azahrul Ahmad, reported that MP was detained at his lodging in the Jimbaran area of Bali.
"Based on our investigation, the suspect was under the influence of alcohol when he caused the commotion," said Azahrul Ahmad on Saturday.
As of Saturday afternoon, the suspect remains in custody at the South Kuta Police Station for further questioning.
