Jakarta. Indonesia is hoping that the British singer Ed Sheeran’s upcoming Jakarta concert will bring an economic impact worth Rp 100 billion ($6.4 million).

The “Ed Sheeran: Mathematics Tour 2024” concert will take place at the Jakarta International Stadium this Saturday. About 50,000 people are expected to attend.

“A domestic tourist usually spends Rp 2.7 million. So if we multiply that by 50,000 concert-goers, the direct impact can reach over Rp 100 billion, “ Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno said on Monday, as reported by news outlet Antara.

The concert was originally planned to take place at Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) stadium before they decided to move to JIS.  Promoter PK Entertainment had to change the venue because GBK stadium had to prepare for the also upcoming Indonesia vs Vietnam football match. PK Entertainment was also the same promoter of Coldplay’s recent concert in Jakarta.
