Jakarta. Budget carrier Citilink has officially launched a new international route connecting Jakarta and Bangkok, expanding its regional network as travel demand between Indonesia and Thailand continues to grow.

The new service began operations on Friday, Dec. 12, linking Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, with Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok. The route is operated daily using an Airbus A320 aircraft.

Citilink President Director Darsito Hendroseputro said the launch is part of the airline’s strategy to strengthen international connectivity while responding to rising passenger demand on the Indonesia–Thailand corridor.

“Bangkok is one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic economic and tourism hubs. Through this direct route, we aim to offer more practical and convenient travel options for passengers from both Indonesia and Thailand,” Darsito said in a statement on Saturday.

Under the schedule, flight QG 512 departs Jakarta at 12:30 p.m. local time and arrives in Bangkok at 4:10 p.m. local time. The return service, flight QG 513, leaves Bangkok at 5:10 p.m. and lands in Jakarta at 8:30 p.m.

Beyond improving passenger mobility, the new Jakarta–Bangkok route is expected to create new opportunities for tourism, business travel, and cultural exchange between the two countries. Darsito said the service also aligns with Citilink’s broader efforts to enhance its competitiveness in the international market.

The route launch comes as the airline prepares for a surge in travel during the year-end holiday season. To accommodate peak demand, Citilink has added capacity of up to 99,900 seats across its network during the peak travel period.

“We hope this initiative will provide greater flexibility for travelers during the holiday season,” Darsito said.

Darsito highlighted Citilink’s recent operational performance, noting that the carrier ranked as Southeast Asia’s second most punctual airline, according to aviation data provider OAG. The airline recorded an on-time arrival rate of 84.63 percent in November 2025.

“With the opening of the Jakarta–Bangkok route, we are ensuring that all flight operations are conducted optimally while continuing to prioritize safety, security, and passenger comfort,” he said.
