Anisimova Faces Swiatek in Wimbledon Women's Final
London. Amanda Anisimova and Iga Swiatek will both be aiming to win Wimbledon for the first time when they meet in the women’s final.
Saturday’s title match on Centre Court will be the first Grand Slam final for Anisimova, a 23-year-old American. Swiatek, a 24-year-old from Poland, already owns five major titles, going 5-0 in Grand Slam finals, but she has never advanced this far on the grass courts of the All England Club. She has won the French Open four times and the US Open once.
The final is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. local time, which is 11 a.m. EDT.
Swiatek is listed as the money-line favorite at -250, according to BetMGM Sportsbook. Anisimova is at +210.
The two have never faced each other on the pro tour, although Anisimova defeated Swiatek in 2016 when they were juniors. Both were standouts at that level: Anisimova won the 2017 US Open junior title by defeating Coco Gauff, while Swiatek claimed the Wimbledon junior title the following year.
Whoever wins Saturday will become the eighth consecutive first-time women’s champion at Wimbledon.
Swiatek spent most of 2022, 2023, and 2024 ranked No. 1 in the WTA rankings but is seeded No. 8 at Wimbledon after going more than a year without a title. She served a one-month doping ban last year after failing an out-of-competition drug test; an investigation determined she was inadvertently exposed to a contaminated medical product used to treat jet lag and sleep issues.
Anisimova, who was born in New Jersey and grew up in Florida, reached the semifinals of the French Open in 2019 at age 17. She took a break from the tour just over two years ago due to burnout. A year ago, she attempted to qualify for Wimbledon, as her ranking of No. 189 was too low for direct entry, but lost in the preliminary rounds.
Regardless of Saturday’s result, Anisimova will break into the top 10 in the rankings for the first time next week.
