Indonesia Says Food Supplies Secure Ahead of Ramadan
Jakarta. The government has assured that national food stocks remain secure and sufficient ahead of the holy month of Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr 2026 holidays, following intensified cross-ministerial coordination to keep inflation within the state budget target.
The commitment was reiterated during a high-level meeting of the Central Inflation Control Team (TPIP) held at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs office on Thursday. The meeting was attended by key ministers, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo, and SOEs Regulatory Agency head and Danantara COO Donny Oskaria.
“The main focus is on ensuring the availability of inter-regional food supplies, particularly rice and other strategic commodities, so they remain secure and affordable for the public,” the Cabinet Secretariat said in an official statement posted on its Instagram account with handle @sekretariat.kabinet.
Beyond maintaining adequate supplies in markets, the government is also prioritizing smooth logistics distribution to prevent regional supply imbalances that could trigger price spikes.
To offset potential price pressures, the government has prepared an economic stimulus package worth Rp 13 trillion, aimed at strengthening household purchasing power from both the supply and demand sides.
On the supply side, mass transportation discounts will be rolled out again, covering airfare, train tickets, sea and land transport fares, as well as toll road tariff adjustments for holiday travelers. On the demand side, the government will continue the large-scale distribution of social assistance, focusing on rice and cooking oil.
This year’s policy package is larger than in previous periods, reflecting the government’s stronger commitment to supporting economic activity and public mobility during the peak consumption season.
With close coordination between Bank Indonesia’s monetary policy and the central government’s fiscal measures, and with inflation remaining under control, authorities expect the public to observe Ramadan calmly without being burdened by rising living costs.
