BCA Plans $300 Million Buyback to Stabilize Falling Shares
Jakarta. Indonesia’s largest private lender Bank Central Asia (BCA), announced plans to buy back up to Rp 5 trillion ($306 million) worth of its shares as part of an effort to stabilize its stock price after a steep 20 percent decline so far this year.
The buyback program will run from Oct. 22 to Jan. 19, 2026, according to a filing to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) on Monday. The company said the program could end earlier depending on market conditions and regulatory requirements.
“The share buyback is aimed at supporting BCA’s stock price stability and reflects the company’s confidence in its long-term growth prospects,” said Hera F. Haryn, BCA’s Executive Vice President of Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility. She added that the plan would not have a material impact on the bank’s financial performance or operations.
BCA said the maximum buyback price is set at Rp 9,200 per share, with the total repurchased shares not to exceed 20 percent of its paid-up capital. After the buyback, the company will maintain at least 7.5 percent of its total paid-up capital as free float shares.
Shares of BCA (IDX: BBCA) jumped 5 percent to Rp 7,875 on Monday following the announcement, with over 393 million shares traded at a value of Rp 3.1 trillion.
In the third quarter of 2025, BCA reported a 5.7 percent increase in net profit to Rp 43.4 trillion, up from Rp 41.1 trillion a year earlier. The bank’s total loans grew 7.6 percent year-on-year to Rp 944 trillion, supported by healthy credit expansion and ample liquidity.
Loan quality improved, with the loan-at-risk (LAR) ratio declining to 5.5 percent from 6.1 percent a year ago, while the non-performing loan (NPL) ratio remained stable at 2.1 percent. The bank maintained strong loan-loss coverage of 166.6 percent for NPLs and 69.5 percent for LAR.
